The polished surface reveals hundreds of fine mineral layers in flowing, lace-like formations: intense rose and raspberry pink, soft blush and cream, burgundy accent lines, and intricate concentric wave-like patterns. What Is Rhodochrosite?

Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral (MnCO₃) that forms in hydrothermal veins and sedimentary deposits. Its characteristic pink-to-red colour is caused by manganese content, with paler cream and beige bands representing zones of lower manganese concentration or intergrown calcite. The Capillitas deposit in Argentina is globally recognised for producing rhodochrosite with exceptionally fine, complex banding — a result of slow, rhythmic mineral precipitation over millions of years. Argentine rhodochrosite from Capillitas is considered among the finest in the world for collector-quality polished slabs.

Polished on Both Sides

Both faces of this slab have been polished, revealing a different cross-section of the mineral's internal formation on each side. Natural outer edges and small cavities have been retained where present, creating contrast between the polished mineral surface and its original geological structure. Display & Care

Display on a strong, flat, stable surface using the included metal stand. Rhodochrosite has a Mohs hardness of 3.5–4 — softer than quartz — and should be handled with care.
